Your computer knows you better than your mom

Social networking has become an indispensable part of our lives these days. 'Being Online' is what everyone demands. Kid's these days play online games rather than outdoor or family games. We have more virtually trues friends than real ones. But does this lifesless machine made up of tiny materials know us better than any of our friends or family member ? Well the answer to this question is explained below.
A study submitted by PNAS (Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences), US proved that if we want to know about someone's personality, than computer based judgements are the most accurate in describing him/her.
About ten thousand people participated in this survey by filling a personality test.
In this test, people were asked questions which revealed their five basic traits i.e. extraversion, openness, conscientiousness, agreeableness and neuroticism.
For many of us it may be a deceit, but the judgements made by the computer were solely based on Facebook likes. It was actually based on likes on Facebook pages about movies, books, TV shows, music, etc. rather than likes on statuses or photos.
David Stillwell, deputy director of Cambridge University’s Psychometrics Centre told, "For me it's not completely surprising, because if I went on a blind date with someone I had never met before and they were telling me about their favourite music or favourite films, what sport they like playing, then I could make a judgement about what kind of person they are. But obviously what’s different about our analysis is it’s a computer doing this analysis automatically, without having any real understanding of, what is Big Brother? It only knows what people who like Big Brother are generally like."
These results may also serve as the foundation of innovative tools, for example, getting an insight of someone’s personality. This could be used in suggesting career options or sorting out candidates.
